Our Mission

NUFAKC is a quaint neighborhood like many others in Kansas City, Missouri, where neighbors gather to care for, support, and empower their fellow neighbors.  This is done in placing primary focus on the beautification of our core residential area, stabilizing our area housing stock through rehabilitation of family housing, the prevention of crime and the elimination of blighted properties in the area, as well as promoting well being of the neighborhood through civic projects, social interaction opportunities for youth and families and recreational activities that improve the quality of life for the neighborhood residents.

What We Believe

That all individual lives matter, that our neighbors matter, and our city matters.  Therefore, every resident, especially members in our association have a voice to bring about positive change for the benefit of all living within our boundaries.  Our engagement is not unique, but does make a HUGE difference in the quality of life for our fellow neighbors and city.  So taking positive ACTION on behalf of our neighbor’s welfare is OUR AIM & MISSION.

Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners, and necessity has made us allies. Those whom God has so joined together, let no man put asunder.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

We have come to understand that poverty and public health, in many ways, are part and parcel of the same thing. The social determinants of health —things like housing, access to physical activity, quality food, safety—are all issues those of us in community development have been addressing for years, but without thinking how they effect people’s health.
